Tailgating Tigers

Categories: Special Occasions, Things to Do, What to do this Weekend, Women Centric Building | Posted: September 15, 2011 | Comments Off on Tailgating Tigers

Auburn University’s very own Tigers are back this season to take on their long-term rivals, the Crimson Tide from the University of Alabama. Now is the perfect time to break in your new homes in Opelika, AL and throw a tailgating party for your favorite teams as the seasons change. Having just beaten Mississippi State by a nose, at 41-34, the Tigers are back and fiercer than ever this season.

Although Auburn is currently ranked in 6th place in the SEC this season, they hope to take the Championship and defeat the Crimson Tide, holding 5th place. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban has been keeping which starter quarterback he will use for each game this season a secret. Their defense has been on point, but the Auburn Tigers are ranked in the top 25 ranked college football teams and they’re ready to prove why.

Tailgating is a great way to prep for a game and show your support as a fan. While some people bring portable barbeques and paint their entire bodies with their team’s colors, here are some great ways to optimize your enjoyment this football season:
Pick out some flags to put outside your new homes in Opelika, AL or your car. Pack a cooler with some of your favorite munchies, burger fixings, bean dips, and beverages. Bring a few of your favorite beers and some other drinks to quench your thirst. Nothing helps you enjoy a game more than a little R+R.

Tailgating etiquette is an important part of enjoying the game. Make sure your loyalty to your team doesn’t dampen the enjoyment or safety of opposing fans or players. They’re people too- even if they’re not the ones you’re rooting for. Football games are heavily attended by families and children, so make sure you act the part.
If you can’t make it out to the games, throwing a party at your new homes in Opelika, AL can help you and your friends enjoy the game, regardless of what team you’re rooting for. Pick out your favorite recipes for bean dip, queso, or wings and kick it.

Creating Easy Centerpieces for Dinner Parties

Categories: Design Tips, Home Buying FAQ, Opelika AL, Open Houses, What to do this Weekend | Posted: August 17, 2011 | Comments Off on Creating Easy Centerpieces for Dinner Parties

As everyone knows, one of the best ways to show off your new homes in Opelika, AL is to, of course, host a dinner party for your closest friends and family. Here are some affordable and creative ways to aid the air of sophistication to your table:

For a fragrant and vibrant centerpiece, another trick includes taking a cubed vase an filling it with ¼ inch-thick lime slices so that they layer the outside of the vase. To keep the colorful insides of the lime visible, stand them up on top of each other and keep them pressed against the wall of the glass by fitting a slightly smaller vase in the middle. In the smaller vase, choose your favorite flowers, and enjoy the scents for the next two to three days.

Take a 1-2ft  narrow garden sconce or pedestal, and arrange some red, white, or pink flowers and some creeping Jenny in an urn for an elegant centerpiece. To really catch the eye of your dinner guests when they come to visit your new homes in Opelika, AL, use silver candlesticks to both sides of the arrangement, and pair with red and white flatware. Red is an imperial color, and will command the attention of your guests.

If au natural is more your style, grab two shorter and stouter vases, and one slightly larger and wider vase. In the middle, fill the largest vase with water  playful daises or whatever flowers you may have growing wild outside your new homes in Opelika, AL, and in the two smaller vases, fill them with water and fill with floating candles. You can use reindeer moss around the base of the center vase to create a playful and earthy theme for your tablescape.

For a simple, yet dramatic flair, take a hurricane vase and fill it with tall seasonal flowers, and arrange several spears of colorful stalks. Fill your vase with water and add a few small oranges to the vase to create vibrant contrast. A long and slender centerpiece can not only add the dramatic flair you’re looking for, but it also won’t obstruct the view of the other side of the table.

Grilling Tips to Celebrate National Barbecue Month

Categories: What to do this Weekend | Posted: May 22, 2011 | Comments Off on Grilling Tips to Celebrate National Barbecue Month

Nothing kicks off the summer quite like a barbeque. Especially if you’re celebrating a house warming party for new homes in LaGrange, GA. Here are some tips to bring your barbequing techniques to a whole new level this summer.

Find the right marinade- for the best results, tenderize and marinate your meat the night before you plan to cook them so it can absorb the most flavor.  Marinades can range from oil-based recipes as simple as Italian dressing, to wine-based marinades, and even thicker marinades like steak or barbeque sauces. Depending on your personal tastes, perfect a recipe or shake it up all summer long! Marinades work great for meat entrees, kabobs, or even veggies.

One of the best ways to spice up your burger is to add and knead a few splashes of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and a sprinkle of brown sugar into each hamburger patty. Of course, be sure to season with salt and pepper. This helps enhance the natural flavor of the meat with sweet and savory elements to make anyone crave seconds.

Meat certainly isn’t the only thing that grills well: ears of corn, potatoes, and pineapple have been grilling favorites for decades. For more delicate meat, like fish, be sure to lay down a sheet of aluminum foil to maximize the flakiness of your fish and prevent it from falling between the grates of your grill. You can also envelope veggies and shrimp in aluminum foil, add some butter or a delicious sauce to help steam them, and throw them right onto the barbeque, too.

Season your own woodchips in a barrel with different flavors, such as apple cider or Jack Daniel’s whiskey. Soak your woodchips in a sealed weather barrel for a week and then drain and dry them out for a few days. When grilling, throw a few handfuls of woodchips onto your coals or gas burners, and the smoke will help season your meal. You can even experiment with different flavors!

What is a barbeque without a great porch or patio? Make sure you’re looking at new homes in LaGrange, GA that help you enjoy your home, including the outside! Make sure your  outdoor arrangement is fit to host guests comfortably, and even deck it out with comfortable patio furniture and seating so you can enjoy all of that food you made!

Barbecues are perhaps one of the most compelling and tastiest ways to bring people together during the summer. Wether you want to meet the neighbors after buying one of those new homes in LaGrange, GA, or you want to get together for Memorial day or 4th of July, a barbecue is the perfect excuse to enjoy good company, good weather, and good food. Get grilling!
