What is a Woman-Centric Home?

Simply put, a Woman-Centric home is a home that has been designed for the way women actually live in their home. After five years of market research, surveys and focus groups, Design Basics, the creators of Woman-Centric, has implemented the advice and suggestions of women to give them the plans they really want. Storage is plentiful, relaxation areas are seamlessly integrated, places to entertain both formally and casually are available and much consideration is given to rooms that can be flexible as your family’s needs change. DanRic Homes, the exclusive Woman-Centric certified builder in the area, has teamed up with Design Basics to revise our floor plans to offer greater livability and increased attention to both the practical and the aesthetic.

It starts with design. In a Woman-Centric home everything - from home plans to features and finishes - offers greater flexibility. It's living space that changes depending upon the people living in it.

In a Woman-Centric home from DanRic Homes, the emphasis is on YOU. Your needs, your desires, your life.

What is Woman-Centric building?

Every Woman-Centric design addresses the four key areas that women evaluate when considering a new home: how the home handles daily stress; how the home entertains; the flexibility of the home's design to adapt to the changing needs of their family; and the home's ability to address storage needs.

Consider how you and your family "live" in your home. When you entertain, food is often involved. (Which is why so many of your guests congregate in the kitchen.) Our Woman-Centric kitchens open to other entertaining areas, including the dining spaces, the great room and even outdoor living spaces. These kitchens also eliminate clutter by providing lots of organized storage in the form of larger, more easily accessible pantries.

Women (and men!) want their home to be a retreat from the stresses of daily life. Woman-Centric home designs include practical solutions - such as spa showers, private sitting rooms, and spacious patios or porches.

Research reveals that nothing is more stressful than getting your family out the door in the morning. That discovery led to Woman-Centric designs with rear entry foyers featuring benches for removing shoes, lockers for the kids, a drop zone that incorporates a recharging center for cell phones and other electronics, a taller space for umbrellas and coats and a message boards for important notes.

Additionally, women have concerns about how adaptable a home will be in the future. The Woman-Centric Approach covers all sorts of contingencies. These home plans have adjacent secondary bedrooms / guest suites that provide both private sleeping and living spaces. Other plans have flexible bathroom arrangements that are perfect for newly blended families, while some include options for creating his-and-her offices by adapting a spare bedroom or converting a dining room. Woman-Centric plans also offer unfinished areas, on a second level or over a garage or in a basement, that families can configure as the need arises.

Obviously a Woman-Centric home design is not just for women. It involves sensible, thoughtful perspectives that are appreciated by both men and women.
